Letters To The Post: Vote “No” On Proposed Amendment No.2

Next week, Nebraska residents will be voting next week on Proposed Amendment No. 2, which would make hunting and trapping a right, thereby protecting the use of “traditional” hunting and trapping methods and shadowing the option of safer, less cruel live traps. If this amendment is passed, Nebraska would never be able to ban cruel traps.

Steel-jaw, body-gripping, and snare traps are exceedingly cruel. Even rubber-coated traps cause immense pain and injury! Body-gripping traps crush bones and slowly suffocate animals, while snares jerk tightly around victims’ necks, faces, bodies, or limbs. With all these traps, terrified animals, in their frantic struggles to escape, will commonly injure themselves further, snapping bones and tearing flesh—some animals even chew off their own limbs to break free.
By voting “No” on this issue, we can demonstrate that our state cares about the welfare of our wildlife, as well as show that we are compassionate people.

Please vote “No” on Proposed Amendment No. 2!

I don’t think trapping animals has anything to do with our food supply. When we do have to kill an animal for our food it should be as quick and painless to the animal as possible. Read that article would you want any of that to happen to you?

I will be voting for amendment #2. They will start here removing the rights of hunters and fishermen and then it will continue until the right to hunt and fish is gone completely. BTW does your brocolli feel pain when you bite its head off. LOL Get real people animals were given to man by God to be used for food and clothing. I believe we should be good stewards of what God has given us and even ethical in our hunting, fishing and trapping, but this law will only lead to more “animal right” and soon they will push for the animlas rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They are soulless animals, they are food!

The animals had the same time to build stuff to use against, humans let the strong survive.

I find these anti hunters logic seriously flawed. They claim we hate these animals. We are supposedly crewl to these animals. What they fail to reailize is we no longer have packs of wolves, bear and mountain lions and other predators for the most part in the wilderness anymore. The natural ballance of the prey vs predator thrown off. It now is human responsibility that allows these wild animals to survive through population control. If these herds were not controlled through hunting we would have worse wild life diseases than we allready do. Have you seen the effect of blue tounge on deer heards in Nebraska this year? its not pretty…and dosent look humain either. Speaking of that have you ever watched a Lion kill its prey? im telling ya a bullet or snare is much more humain than that! Its called responsibility and the maintaining of ballance. I dont hate my deer! i love my deer enough to understand population specifically over population is directly proportioned to the effect of disease on the heard. dont know about you but i love watching North American wildlife. It almost breaks my heart to see a deer suffering from disease. It sickens me. So i take the responsibility on myself to do what nature can no longer do correctly… Maintain ballance. I also love to hunt it has been a family tradition for over a century. The lessons learned in the deer woods will follow and help shape your life for years to come. Its a lot better way to spend the weekend out in nature than sitting infront of the Playstation or stupid tv watching these mind dulling reality shows. Its healthy for the body and mind. It creates a natural high no artificial or or substance high could ever match. Its a tradition, obsession, pastime, duty, responsibility. Its hunting and trapping in a legal and ethical manner and its here to stay. You vote how you wish its your right to do so… but misleading the other voters is quite another story. I will be voting YES on Amendment 2 tomorrow.

I’m not trying to stop hunting. I know that you have to hunt to control populations. My Dad hunted. My friends hunt. My concern is about the kinds of traps used. Humane traps is all I’m wishing for.
