(POLL) CT: Is Gun Control the Answer? Vote and Comment Here!

WASHINGTON (AP) — The question surfaces each time a mass murder unfolds: Will this one change the political calculus in Washington against tougher gun control?

The answer was “no” after the Virginia Tech killings, the attempted assassination of Gabby Giffords, the Colorado movie-theater attack, the Wisconsin Sikh temple shootings, and more.

But now?

The massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., stands as a possible tipping point after Washington’s decade-long aversion even to talking about stricter gun laws.

President Barack Obama says it’s time for the country to come together and “take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics.”

It remains to be seen whether Sandy Hook will break the usual cycle of universal shock fading into political reality.

What do YOU think? Is Gun Control the answer? Or is the problem deeper than that? Let us know!

In light of the tragedy in CT, is Gun Control the answer?

Gun laws only apply to law abiding citizens. Criminals are not going to follow gun laws. They are after all “criminals”.

OJ used a knife, Timothy McVeigh used fertilizer, 9/11 hijackers used boxcutters and planes. Nazis used cyanide gas. Cane killed Abel with a rock. People drink, drive, and kill people in cars. Time to outlaw knives, rocks, fertilizer, planes, and cars as well. If you believe gun control is the answer, I have some land to sell you in Bermuda.

obama will use this as a ploy to disarm the US people so he will be able to control the citizens and make his takeover to the US easier. His voteing record has always been in favor of any or all gun control. After all, a disarmed citizen is a slave and that is what he wants.

What’s is needed is parental discipline and traditional values taught in schools. When schools become so progressive that they teach that morality is relative to the individual, how can you be surprised when individuals’ morality doesn’t line up with what it used to be? If you can’t teach kids that immoral things are bad, you must live with the consequences.

We need to stop gun control fanatics from creating more “gun free” zones that prevent the law abiding from being able to protect themselves and others with their own firearms!

Gun control is a feel good measure that does nothing to actually stem violence. It allows politicians to look like they’re doing something without addressing the complex and controversial roots of violence.

I’ve done extensive research on gun control over the course of several years. In no instance has increased gun control led to lower violent crime. In no case has decreased gun control led to higher crime. The reason is that gun control only stops law abiding citizens from obtaining firearms. Armed citizens are a deterrent to the criminals who would prey on them.

The shooter broke 41 existing laws in his rampage. Insanity is believing that more laws will stop lawless maniacs like him. Force on force response has been an effective deterrent for thousands of years.

Approximately 150 people have died at the hands of drunk drivers since Friday morning. Most of these drunk drivers will be convicted of “vehicular homicide” or “vehicular manslaughter” – making the car a weapon.

Tell me about your despair for these lost lives and how heavy restrictions and bans should be put on all cars.

I mean we are talking about saving lives right?

    Didn’t think so.

“Every day, almost 30 people in the United States die in motor vehicle crashes that involve an alcohol-impaired driver.”

All these comments are completely true and correct!!! You ban or delegalize things, people who want them will find the means and ways to get them all the time. It’s time to start teaching the rights and wrongs again. This basically stopped when parents couldn’t displine their kids in an approprate manner, because of being turned in for child abuse or because some people don’t want the real history taught anymore!!!!! Oh and let’s put GOD back in the thick of things also!!!!
