The North Platte Knights had to work overtime for their fifth straight victory. In a thriller at McDonald-Belton Gymnasium, the Knights outlasted the Eastern Wyoming Lancers 76-75. A 9-0 run in the extra session gave the Knights the lead for good after the two teams had fought a see-saw battle all night. Aboubacar Casse led the Knights with a double-double – 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Knights are 17-4 overall and continue to lead the South sub-region with a 7-2 mark. In the women’s half of the doubleheader, the Lady Knights led the Lady Lancers by five with four minutes to play, but the lead slipped away and the Lady Knights fell 67-62. The loss spoiled a huge game from DaVontaye Merritt, who scored 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. The Lady Knights fall to 12-9 with the loss. The Knights and Lady Knights are back in action with home games Saturday night. The women host Northeast, and the men host Western Nebraska.
