Sara Fritsch’s contractions were coming five minutes apart Thursday when she and her husband, Tom, bundled up their three children and drove them to a friend’s house to drop them off.
The hospital was about a 30 minute drive on snowy streets. But, as Tom began to pull out of the driveway, Sara experienced another major contraction and told her husband she couldn’t make it to the hospital.
Tom, a volunteer firefighter for 23 years, escorted his wife back into the friends home where he washed up, prepared the sofa and delivered a healthy 5-pound, 10-ounce baby girl, Cecelia.
The Fritschs then drove to the hospital where they were informed by doctors that all was well with the newest addition to their family.
