Charlotte Classen, 87, of North Platte, NE, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Linden Court in North Platte.
Charlotte was born July 27, 1925, at Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to Chester and Julia Orzehowski Fedozeski. She grew up in Wildwood, Canada where the family homesteaded. She later moved back to Edmonton where she worked at Kresky Dime Store and the American Air Base.
On September 27, 1945, Charlotte married Leslie Wayne Classen at Edmonton then moved to Hastings, NE that December where she and Les made their home. In 1947 they moved to North Platte. They later lived in several Nebraska communities between 1957 and 1961 before returning and settling in North Platte.
Charlotte was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kiwanis, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #163 and the Lincoln County Historical Society.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Classen (Danny Gum), of Longmont, CO; a son, Charles (Linda) Classen, of Las Vegas, NV; two grandchildren, Rebecca Classen, of Ferndale, WA and Sheila (James) Dye, of Fort Collins, CO; three great-grandchildren, Jesse Classen, Olivia and Jackson Dye; a sister, Lillian Fechner, of Fruita, CO; many nieces, nephews and other family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; a sister, Diana Bolton; her brother, William Ona; and two brothers-in-law, Edward Bolton and Neil Fechner.
Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore. Inurnment will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore which is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
