(AP) — A former western Nebraska police chief has been convicted of attempted sexual assault of a teenage girl.

The Nebraska Attorney General’s Office says former Hemingford police chief Mark Lindburg pleaded no contest Wednesday in Box Butte County District Court to one count of attempted first degree sexual assault of a child. The 53-year-old Lindburg faces up to 50 years in prison when he’s sentenced on Aug. 28.

The attorney general’s office says an investigation showed Lindburg engaged in sexual interactions with a 15-year-old girl while on duty as Hemingford’s police chief.

Lindburg was initially charged earlier this year with first-degree sexual assault and child abuse. In a plea agreement, the sexual assault charge was reduced to attempted sexual assault, and the child abuse count was dropped.

Sorry if this Offends any of you people out there, But this man is supposed to be a good example to the community and to the people around him and is to be protecting us, Not harming us! To commit a crime like this and basically get off with a slap on the wrist is absolutely outrageous!

Just my opinion, But if this man is truly guilty of this crime, He should be publicly Hung.
