(AP) — A retired school district administrator from eastern Nebraska is running for the Legislature.
Roy Baker of Lincoln announced Monday that he will seek the seat held by state Sen. Norm Wallman, or Cortland. Wallman is ineligible for re-election in 2014 because of term limits.
Baker retired in 2010 as the superintendent of the Norris School District. He also served as the interim superintendent for Beatrice Public Schools during the last school year, to fill in for an administrator who died. Baker now works as a consultant for school boards who are looking to hire superintendents.
The District 30 legislative seat represents parts of southern Lincoln, Beatrice, and Wymore in southeast Nebraska.
