Fish Kill Set for Recreation Area Near Aurora

fish-kill(AP) — Officials are planning a fish kill at Pioneer Trails Recreation Area near Aurora.

The Upper Big Blue Natural Resources District says it is working with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission on the project.

The plan is to eliminate carp and bullhead to make way for a restocking yet this year of bass, bluegill and other catfish. The overabundance of bullheads and common carp can harm sport fishing.

Pioneer Trails Recreation Area was built on a tributary of Lincoln Creek in 1986.
