North Platte Police have charged a North Platte woman with a felony after she allegedly choked her daughter.

According to Investigator John Deal, Officers responded to a disturbance in the 400 block of West 2nd at 7:36 p.m. on Tuesday.

Upon arrival, Officers learned that the victim had left the scene.  She was contacted at an undisclosed residence a short time later.

The victim and a witness told Police that she and her mother, 38-year-old Leslie Van Zee, had gotten into an argument that led to Van Zee slapping and choking her.  Deal said the victim had injuries that corroborated her story.

Van Zee was charged with felony strangulation and transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center.

The victim’s age was not given.

Shame on you guys for judging her that way! What you do not know is that the victim’s “witness” was outside 2 blocks away and that when the supposed choking occurred Van Zee was no where near her. And what you do not know is that this is not the first time the victim has left marks on her own body because her mother finally put her foot down and stopped letting the brat walk all over her! And that the last time this event occurred the mom took the fall and was found innocent when someone came forward with the truth and instead of pressing charges on the daughter…. she took her back into her house. And what you do not know is that this specific argument was over the fact that the son in law (claimed witness) beats his wife and tried to beat on Van Zee and the almost one year old child that he and the victim have and that is why Van Zee stepped up and said no more!

Maybe people should not be so quick to judge others just based on mere appearance alone. You can’t believe everything you read or see in the news, after all the news only tells half of a story and that half is more than likely just what they want you to know not all the facts.
