Gregory Glenn Miller


Gregory Glenn Miller, 56, of Hershey, NE, passed away at home on Sunday, November 24, 2013.

Greg was born July 22, 1957, to Connie Henry and Glenda Mae Winner Miller in McCook, NE and grew up in Cambridge, NE. In 1976 Greg graduated from Cambridge High School then attended Nebraska Wesleyan College to play football. He graduated with a degree in education then started his teaching/coaching career in Hershey where he was the K-12 PE teacher and coached in all sports in his 30 years at Hershey Public School. He also started the Hershey Elementary Basketball Program.

On August 1, 1986, Greg married Tracy Michele Haist in Oak Harbor, WA and they made their home in Hershey where they raised three daughters. He was a member of Maria Lutheran Church and the Nebraska Coaches Association.

Survivors include his wife, Tracy, and daughters, Shaylyn, Daynlee and Treyann Miller, all of Hershey; his mother, Glenda Miller, of North Platte; his brother, Scott (Stacey) Miller, of Temecula, CA; an uncle, Jack (Pat) Winner, of Lancaster, TX; his niece, Chelsea Miller, of Omaha, NE; a nephew, John Miller, of Temecula, CA; and other cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Connie.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2013, at the Hershey High School gym with Vicar JA Welsh of Maria Lutheran Church and Pastor Scott Mustion of the First Church of God in North Platte officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Cemetery south of Hershey. The casket will not be open at the school. Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Friday with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established at Hershey High School for a scholarship in Greg’s name. Condolences may be shared online at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.

    You will be missed Mr. Miller. My kids loved having you as their PE teacher…especially my oldest son. He said he could talk to you when he was having some bullying problems and you listened. Thoughts and prayers to your family. You were a great man!
