lincoln-police(AP) — A 21-year-old Lincoln man is facing charges after being arrested on suspicion of punching an 8-year-old boy in the back.

Lincoln Police Capt. Michon Morrow says the boy called police to report the incident around 2 a.m. Saturday.

The boy told officers he was playing with a Christmas present when his mother’s boyfriend hit him and left welts.

Police located the suspect around 3:30 a.m., but he resisted when officers tried to arrest him. So Morrow says officers used a stun gun to subdue the man.

The man is facing charges of child abuse, resisting arrest and failure to comply.
