A North Platte woman is in jail on felony drug charges after lab tests confirmed the presence of methamphetamine in a glass pipe.

On September 4, 2013, an officer with the North Platte Platte Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a Chevy pickup that had no license plates displayed.

The officer learned that the driver, 26-year-old Latosha Ryan, was operating the vehicle under a suspended license and had two active Lincoln County warrants.

According to Officer Rodney Brown, a subsequent search of Ryan’s person revealed a glass pipe with white powder residue.

Later test results from the Nebraska State Patrol Crime Lab indicated the presence of meth.

On March 4, 2014, an officer contacted Ryan during another traffic stop and placed her under arrest for possession of methamphetamine.

Ryan was transported and jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.

But in the young man’s case that is being talked about, he was ONLY 15…The people that used to get doped up with him were 18 and 19 years old. At 15 of course you wanted to be like the older kids. And those 18 and 19 year olds were encouraging him to use.. I know because I used to be in that same lifestyle but thankfully I cleaned up and have been clean for 7 years. I never meant to “blame” his addiction on anyone else, but I do however put blame on others for encouraging a KID to use these drugs when they were in fact considered to be adults. So that “kid” gets in trouble, and “narcs” people out and it makes that guy ^^^^ mad??? Get out while you can people! Meth is a horrible drug.

That whole crowd has been nothing but trouble for as long as I can remember; I guess the term trash would fit them perfectly. However, we have to stop and think about the parents as well. When they were old enough to be shaped into respectable citizens, they were being taught that getting high and being worthless was a norm and accepted. Shame on them for not making a better life, but shame on their parents for not teaching them any better. Hopefully an example will be made rather than rehab and a slap on the wrist. North Platte has enough junkies; one less on the streets would be great.
