The North Platte Police Department is investigating the death of an inmate at the Lincoln County Detention Center from an apparent heart attack.

According to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy, Roland Kramer, at around 10:15 p.m. on March 17, an inmate, 43-year-old Harry Stately, began complaining of chest pains.

Kramer said detention officers immediately offered first-aid and transported Stately to Great Plains Regional Medical Center.  Stately was released from custody and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, where he died.

Stately was being held for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver.

Lincoln County Attorney Rebecca Harling ordered an autopsy, and the NPPD was contacted to conduct an independent investigation which is still ongoing.

I went to school with Harry. He was a kind, sweet guy, and I was sorry to hear the news of his passing. Too bad that he made bad choices, and he probably struggled with addiction. That doesn’t mean he deserved to die.

I don’t wish death on anyone. Drug dealer or not he deserved a long Clean life. Not that that’s how it would’ve gone, but everyone deserves the chance. Puck you sound like a lousy person!

If you are a person on here degrading someone who has past because they have made poor decisions and mistakes in my opinion you are the one who needs to evaluate themselves as a human. You need to check yourself honestly. On top of that….karma is real!

In all fairness to Puck, a person who isn’t personally involved with Stately, this is the feeling of most towards drug dealers. Drug dealers ruin other’s lives in order to support their own habit, so you can’t be surprised of the sentiment.

Goodbye drug dealer. There, was that kind enough for someone who contributes to the demise of others?

Drug dealer or not, I don’t think they r the ones that contribute to someone’s misfortune or bad choice. If a person decides to buy drugs and use them then I think it’s the person that actually bought the drugs and uses them that is making the bad choice. Not the dealer or supplier.

I agree that a person who buys drugs has no one to blame for whatever misfortune comes from doing that, a person that deals drugs is far from being a guilt free business person. They are selling poison!
