Lexington Woman Charged with Felony Child Abuse

A 20-year-old Nebraska mom is facing a felony child abuse charge after she allegedly kept allowing her boyfriend to babysit, despite injuries to her son which he is accused of causing.

Kelsey Dangler was arrested last week, about a month after her boyfriend, Christopher Perez.

Lexington Police began looking into case after Dangler took her then 17-month-old son to the hospital on Feb. 18 with severe injuries.

Police say the boy’s bleeding in his skull and other bruises couldn’t be explained by Perez’s explanation that he fell on top of the toddler.

Investigators found evidence of bruises and other injuries the boy sustained while Perez was babysitting that date back to October.

Both Dangler and Perez have posted bail and have been released pending more hearings.

Fell over a baby gate right. There were other injuries as well. Kelsey loves her son dearly but has a terrible choice of men. She didn’t realize what was going on. She would never intentionally put her son in harms way. She will be found innocent and he will be locked up for a while but not long enough.

Prosecutor’s case is paper thin against Kelsey. They will have an uphill battle proving beyond reasonable doubt and they know it. No need for Johnnie Cochran here.

Most important is Zach’s recovery. So many thoughts and prayers are with him.

How many boyfriends, girlfriends, step parents abuse kids of the person they’re dating? Be selective, be vigilant, be cautious, be watchful.

And what? These people put snakes and pit bulls in the playpen? Several different people does not equal bad mother. Only one person beat up Zach and he has been charged. I.agree with Glove don’t fit person that getting a conviction on Kelsey will be hard. She is young and too trusting. Thus is something college can’t teach, only.experience and it is very unfortunate she had to learn this way. I hope little Zach continues to improve and can live a normal childhood with his mother.

Disgusting that parents do not protect their children. NO EXCUSES! My kids have taken some pretty bad tumbles over the years and I cannot fathom the abuse it takes in inflict these kind of injuries on a child. Hope there is still a bright future for this little boy. And a tiny, dark, miserable cell for those responsible.
