(AP) — Authorities say a Douglas County jail inmate who underwent surgery Thursday following a fight with another inmate was the target of a second attack after he was taken back the to jail on Friday.

Jail guards used pepper spray Friday to break up the second fight involving 24-year-old Anthony Floyd. Jail deputy director John Hubbard says the second fight may have been gang-related.

On Thursday, Floyd had his testicles partially detached during a fight with inmate Marcus Escamilla in the jail’s library and underwent surgery.

Hubbard says Floyd and inmate James Briggs, involved in Friday’s fight, have been segregated from the general jail population. Inmates Justin Proctor, involved in Friday’s fight, and Escamilla have been placed on disciplinary lockdown.

Pro-life right wing Republicans will deny it, but prisoners do have rights. Nebraska’s prisons are getting out of control. Our Republican Governor and Republicans in the legislature don’t want to do anything to solve this problem.

If you want to get tough on crime someone has to pay for it. Right now Nebraskans want to get tough on criminals but they don’t want to pay for it.

These kind of attacks are all too common anymore.

The prisons are at over capacity and under staffed. The Feds will force Nebraska to change this situation. Republicans don’t think so but the prisoners do have rights.

Progressive1: I agree.. they do have rights. But obviously, they’ve gotten where they are by infringing upon somebody else’s rights. In addition, they believe it’s gang related. It’s not just in prison where gang retaliations happen… it’s everywhere. I feel bad the guy got attacked, but it kind of seems like he might’ve got what was coming to him.

It is not the criminal’s job to administer justice. The criminals that did this are not necessarily any better than this guy.
