A Wellfleet woman is in jail on a felony assault charge after she allegedly stabbed a woman multiple times on Saturday morning.
At around 3:16 a.m., on July 5, deputies with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a stabbing at Wellfleet Lake.
Upon arrival, they made contact with a 19-year-old female who had been stabbed multiple times near a boat ramp at the lake.
Maywood Rescue transported the victim to Great Plains Health, in North Platte, for the treatment of multiple stab wounds.
In the meantime, deputies were able to locate the suspect in the assault, 49-year-old Kristi Brossart.
Deputies conducted interviews with all parties involved, and learned that Brossart and the victim had been arguing when Brossart produced a yellow knife and started swinging it at the victim.
Authorities say witnesses were able to break the altercation up after a short time.
Brossart was arrested and transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center.
She’s been charged with felony 2nd degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
The suspected weapon was located in the pocket of Brossart’s pants.
Deputies say the victim’s injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
The investigation is ongoing, and deputies say alcohol appears to have been a contributing factor in the case.
