Michael F. Mooney, 76, of North Platte passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 after a long illness. Michael was born November 26, 1937 to Matthew and Mary Ryan Mooney in Farnane Cappamore, County Limerick Ireland where he grew up. Michael immigrated to the United States when he was 21 years old, June 1958. He enlisted in the United States Army on June 22, 1959 and was honorable discharged on June 21, 1968. Michael married Eileen E. McGorarty April 16, 1960. The couple welcomed 4 children to their family before moving to North Platte. Michael purchased the Dart Inn, which was the first convince store in North Platte and he was in various businesses since. He married Linda Johnson December 16, 1978.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Mooney of North Platte; sons, Patrick (Carol) of Florence, Al, and Michael (Terri) of North Platte; daughter, Kathy (Terry) Collins of North Platte; sisters, Peggy Collins, Molly Hinnan all of Ireland; brothers, John Mooney of Ireland and Pat Mooney of Florida; five grandkids, Tia, Shay, Terry, Gregg, and Zac; four great-grandkids, Caley, Anthony, Cayden and Keagan.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, Matthew and Mary; daughter, Maureen Mooney; wife, Eileen Mooney; sister, Eileen Dempsey; brothers-in-law, Pat Dempsey and Martin Collins; and a brother, Matt Mooney.

Christian Wake Service will be 9:30 a.m. September 2, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. September 2, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Reverend James Golka as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell with full military honors graveside. Visitation will be noon until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
