CURRENT JOB OPENINGS IN NORTH PLATTE

Radio Sports Director

JOB DESCRIPTION: Represents Eagle Radio stations in sporting news gathering and reporting situations throughout Lincoln County, NE and beyond. Gathers and reports sporting news of local interest to listeners. Will place a heavy emphasis on sports of LOCAL interest. Represent Eagle Radio stations to advertisers for purposes of advertising sales and marketing. Changes on-air sports stories regularly (hourly) on air and online to keep news updates fresh. Archive sports audio on a daily basis. Gather and report severe weather information to listeners during newscasts, when appropriate, and also during storms. Help with production of commercials from time to time. Plus any other duties as may be deemed appropriate by management.

EDUCATION: College degree preferred, but not necessary. Prefer a broad based approach to education courses in the liberal arts, including writing communications, journalism, and sports information.

EXPERIENCE: Communications experience: journalism, writing, public speaking. Interpersonal experience: an understanding of human relations. Must understand the rules of most sports from study and/or from having played the game(s).

PERSONALITY: Positive outlook, ambitious, self-starting, people & team oriented. Organized and able to develop positive relationships with sports sources to gain their input and response to items of interest to listeners. Demonstrate willingness to go above and beyond to do what it takes to get the job done. Demonstrate creative commercial production ability. Must be willing to do background work to make things happen, to stimulate others involvement. Must have self-confidence and an awareness of public service. Accurate, detailed, with an understanding that sometimes the job may require extra hours above 40 per week.

Salary is competitive, and dependent on experience.
