Thiele leads four Huskers in top 30 at Ohio State

Lindsey Thiele shot a final-round 75 (+3) to take 28th individually and lead four Husker women's golfers in the top 30 at the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday.

Thiele's final-round 75 was added to Saturday rounds of 74 and 78, as the senior from Wahoo, Neb., closed with a three-round score of 227 (+11) on the par-72, 6,319-yard layout of the Scarlet Course.

Thiele finished one stroke in front of teammates Miu Takahashi, Michaela Vavrova and Arden Louchheim, who all tied for 29th in the 75-player field with 54-hole scores of 228 (+12).

Takahashi, a junior from Nasu-Machi, Japan, produced Nebraska's second-best round of the day with a 76 (+4) on Sunday, while Louchheim added a 78. Vavrova managed a 79 as Nebraska's fourth counting score in the six-count-four format. As a team, the Huskers closed with a 308 (+20) in the final round to end the tournament in 10th at 911 (305-298-308).

The hosts from Ohio State ran away with the team title by 20 strokes with a three-round total of 857 (-7), including a final-round 283. Caley McGinty led a Buckeye sweep of the top spots by taking medalist honors with a 210 (-6) to claim a four-stroke win over teammates Kary Hollenbaugh and Faith Choi, who tied for second at 214 (-2). Kailie Vongsaga added a tie for ninth to put four Buckeyes in the top 10 in the final individual standings.

Michigan State finished second at 877 (+13), while Purdue took third at 877.

Nebraska returns to action next weekend when the Huskers travel to Bulle Rock Golf Club in Havre de Grace, Md., for the Big Ten Championship (April 19-21).
