April 29, 2024 (North Platte, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will begin today, April 29, on US-26, from reference post 136.46 to reference post 144.83, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Werner Construction of Hastings is the contractor for this project. Work includes milling, asphalt overlay, and earth shoulder construction. Traffic will be maintained with lane restrictions and a pilot car and flaggers. An 11-foot width restriction will be in effect. Anticipated completion is Sept. 2024.
The purpose of this project is to preserve the transportation asset, improve the reliability of the transportation system and perpetuate the mobility of the traveling public.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.
