LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Andrew White, the second-leading scorer for Nebraska last season, plans to play his final season at another school as a graduate transfer.
Coach Tim Miles said Sunday that White requested a release and will be given one. White, who sat out the 2014-15 season after transferring from Kansas, averaged 16.6 points and 5.9 rebounds in his only season with the Cornhuskers. [Read more…]
Lincoln – Nebraska junior outfielder Ryan Boldt was selected in the second round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night, the No. 53 overall pick in the Draft. Boldt is the highest drafted Husker since 2006 when Joba Chamberlain was a first-round pick by the New York Yankees. Lincoln – Nebraska once again ranked among the nation’s best in men’s college basketball attendance, as the 2015-16 NCAA figures were released on Wednesday.
The Huskers ranked 11th nationally, averaging 15,429 fans per game at Pinnacle Bank Arena last season. It marked the second-highest total in school history, and the third straight year the Huskers averaged over 15,000 fans per game at Pinnacle Bank Arena. NU also set a single-season record in total attendance with 277,739 fans, breaking the record of 249,101 set in 2014-15. [Read more…]
Clemson, S.C. – The 2016 Nebraska baseball season came to an end on Saturday afternoon at Doug Kingmore Stadium in Clemson, S.C., with a 4-1 loss to the Western Carolina Catamounts (31-30). The Huskers ended the season with a 37-22 record and made their second NCAA Regional appearance in the last three seasons. Nebraska had scoring opportunities all afternoon, but was unable to get the hit it needed, while also hitting into five double plays. [Read more…]

Lincoln – For the second time in three years the Nebraska baseball team earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Huskers, who are 37-20 on the year, earned an at-large invitation during the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship Selection Show Monday morning on ESPNU and will play in the Clemson Regional.
Nebraska is the #3 seed and will play #2 seed Oklahoma State on Friday at 11 a.m. (CT) on ESPNU.
The Clemson Tigers are the #1 seed and will face #4 seed Western Carolina at 6 p.m. (CT) on ESPN3.
Nebraska will be making its 14th NCAA Regional appearance.

Omaha – A five-run sixth inning by the Michigan State Spartans (35-18) doomed the Nebraska baseball team (37-19) on Wednesday afternoon, as the No. 7 seed Spartans beat the No. 2 seed Huskers, 5-1, in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament. Omaha – Eight members of the Nebraska baseball team were honored by the Big Ten Conference on Tuesday afternoon, including Chad Luensmann who was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
